ASIST

ASIST, Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training, is a 2-day, highly interactive, practical, and practice-oriented workshop for caregivers created by LivingWorks. The program assists caregivers to feel more comfortable, confident and competent in helping to prevent the immediate risk of suicide. The workshop will discuss methods and provide tools necessary to encourage the continuation of life – no matter what challenges are faced. Learn how you can prevent the immediate risk of suicide by joining the over one million caregivers who have participated in ASIST!

Mental Health First Aid

8-hour training that teaches how to help those experiencing a mental health concern, an emotional crisis or a substance abuse disorder. Empowers participants with a 5-step action plan to assess a situation, provide support and help connect to local resources.

Youth Mental Health First Aid

8-hour training that teaches you an action plan to help youth who may be experiencing a mental health concern, an emotional crisis, eating or substance use disorder or showing warning signs of suicide.

Suicide & Risk Assessment Skills Training

A 4-hour training for professional and paraprofessionals focused on strengthening knowledge and skills for suicide prevention and risk reduction. These techniques are utilized to handle a suicide crisis, as well as dealing with clients exhibiting anger and/or mental health distress.

QPR- Question, Persuade & Refer

Question, Persuade, and Refer is a 2-hour suicide gatekeeper training program that focuses on ways to identify signs and help keep someone safe from suicide.

Mandatory Reporting

A 1-hour training regarding mandatory reporting for incidents of abuse, homicide ideation and suicide ideation, along with the required steps and available resources. An overview of issues from client rights to confidentiality and exceptions are also included.

Active Listening

Active listening is a 2-hour training on communication techniques used in Rogerian counseling. Active listening requires the listener to understand, interpret, and evaluate what they hear. The ability to listen actively can improve personal relationships by reducing conflicts, strengthening cooperation, and fostering understanding and insight.

SuicideTalk

Suicide Talk is a 1-hour program about suicide aimed at the community to raise suicide awareness and provide resources for those at risk.

Customized Training

JCS offers programs that address substance abuse, sexual assault and domestic abuse through individual, couples and family counseling, as well as programs dealing with bullying and social issues in schools. Our qualified Speaker’s Bureau is available to customize and coordinate training seminars on a variety of topics from crisis intervention/suicide prevention to cultural diversity and LGBTQ inclusion.
